‘Main Atal Hoon’ is a film that chronicles the life of India’s 10th Prime Minister, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, who was celebrated for his strong oratorship and romantic side. Pankaj Tripathi’s portrayal of Vajpayee, who was in love with a girl in his class (Rajakumari Kaul), has left many blushing in the theatre. The film’s screenplay is shaky, but the director’s work is commendable, with India Today calling it a “visual treat.” The Times of India also mentioned the slow pace in the first half as a “visual treat.” The film is a stroke-by-stroke retelling of the high points of an illustrious political personage, but Ravi Jadhav’s reduction of it to a rah-rah hagiography is a deep disappointment.
